A shady area on your property becomes a source of colorful cut flowers when filled with perennials chosen to bloom in sequence throughout the season. If you already visit your shady garden for greenery to accent your bouquets, you can add a few blooming plants to spice up your seasonal arrangements. Choose from a wide range of colors, forms and scents and put an often underutilized area to work for you.

Astilbe

Bright colors are often missing in the shade garden. The tall, feathery blooms of Astilbe will provide an accent both indoors and out. They are available in shades of white, pink and red.

Clethra


Clethra is a relatively small shrub, native to the eastern US. We use the white or pink flowers for fragrant additions to many weddings. It's mid-summer blooms are a nice change from spring only flowers. It grow naturally in the understory of our forests.
