Welcome to - Shady Grove Gardens and NurseryWedding FlowersShady Grove offers Fresh Mountain grown flowers. We are 'Your Local Flower Growers' for the Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville, NC area. We deliver to all the 'High Country' of NC. There is something to please everyone. We grow over 200 varieties of perennials and shrubs along with 50 different types of annuals. You may purchase wedding flowers two ways. We offer floral traditional design services, including center pieces and wedding favors. Or for you may purchase just the flowers and have someone arrange them for you. Some brides have us arrange the wedding party flowers and they arrange the reception flowers. Fresh flowers are offered by the mixed bucketful or individual types of flowers may purchased by the bunch. Potted herbs and small trees may also be ordered. Try us first, for the best value as well as fresh, organic and locally grown flowers. Ordering Cut FlowersFresh cut flowers may be purchased for any occasion. Many people looking for loose or 'bulk flowers' order by the bucketful. You can order mixed seasonal flowers for $55 per bucket or specify a color for $65. You may also order specific flowers by the bunch or stem, with a $50 minimum or you can pick from our freshly cut selection on Friday afternoon. These flowers are sold by the bunch. Bunches are either 5,10 or 20 stems. Please plan to bring buckets to carry them home. Scenic Hayrides at our Peak Cut Flower FarmSee the real mountains at our cut flower farm Sundays & Mondays at 5PM for a 1 hour plus scenic hayride. (these times change with the season! Fall tours are at 3 & 4PM depending on the time change!) Farm tour and refreshments are included, as well as natural history oriented to the group's interest. $10 per person. Bucketfuls of White and blue flowers for a June wedding Birdwatching at Shady Grove on the NC Birding TrailOur 76 acre farm its located on the slopes of 'The Peak', in the Amphibolite Mountains of Ashe County. Open meadows, early succession forest, numerous streams & mountain bogs provide excellent habitat many types of birds as well as great long range views. Birding watching is open to everyone. Admission for self-guided walks is $5, and for guided walks $10. Trails are moderate. Most anyone will enjoy the combination open meadow, farm roads and rich cove forest. With luck, everyone will be able to see the Golden Winged Warbler, a species of special concern. Birders can stay as long as they want, however birding and photography is best very early in the morning. We can offer birding Sunday-Thursday. Call for information and directions. Our Nursery for Locally Grown plants- we use sustainable methods throughoutShady Grove Gardens has offered perennials and flowering shrubs at our nursery since 1986. Nursery hours are 9-6 on Friday, or call for an appointment to visit at other times. We are flexible. We specialize in shade and partial shade plants for the High Country.
In 2011, we will have a good selection of native plants, plugs and flowers. We are growing new orange 'Summer Sun' Echinaceas, Double white Phlox, Rosemary, Lavender, Peony, Clematis, Hardy Geranium and Daylilies. Shrubs include several new Hydrangea and Lilac. In 2011, we will also have many unique vegetable transplants. These include heirloom tomatoes and sweet peppers we like to grow and eat. If you are looking for something special, call us. You may reserve vegetable transplants now. Watauga County Farmers MarketBrent and Susan attend the market every Saturday morning May-October. We bring our flowers, perennials, herbs and vegetables every week, rain or shine. We are under the shelter, look for our banner. You'll love our lilies and sweet red peppers.
